SimCentric focuses on providing virtual simulation products for use in training and operational awareness. Within a virtual simulation the user has the option of viewing the simulated world through the first-person perspective of a virtual 'avatar'. We predominantly look at the modification of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf game engines for use in this domain. We offer a development service for these game-engines providing you with a low-cost solution for meeting your training requirements. We are able to adapt these simulations to meet the needs of a variety of applications, whether that be mining, military, emergency services or any other. Training advantages of virtual simulation
Advantages of gaming technology for simulationThe technology of gaming engines has generally tracked at a faster rate than that of equivalent simulation applications. The predominant reason for this is that the greater market for games has spurred greater development. SimCentric seeks to leverage this technology gap by providing high simulations based on these game technologies. This has the following advantages:
Our approachOur preferred engine is Virtual Battlespace 2 (VBS2). This is built by our partner company Bohemia Interactive Australia. VBS2 is an ideal choice for serious simulation as it provides: expansive terrain of both urban and natural features; a wide and flexible variety of virtual avatars within the world; the ability to model vehicles and multi-crewed vehicles; air, land and sea simulation; an after action review feature for playing back training to highlight learning points; a real-time editor for instructor intervention; a rich array of user actions and interactions; and an easy to use scenario editor making it possible for the end user to continually create new content for training. Using this (or another) engine, we provide development services to:
